We don’t make things from scratch anymore. We’ve become so fixated on things happening instantaneously, that we’ve forgotten that homemade is often better than anything bought in the supermarket. Today I wanted to give my co-workers something to encourage them. I could have bought oatmeal raisin cookies at Publix to give to my co-workers, and they very well may have enjoyed them. However, homemade baked goods take time and effort, that we too often are unwilling to sacrifice.
I love baking. Like I’ve said many times before, it’s a type of therapy for me. It gives me time to think through situations and be productive in the process. Also, it brings so much joy to people when you make them something from scratch. It’s like a piece of your heart and gratitude is baked into every treat. People’s spirits are instantly lifted by anything that’s made from scratch. That being said, here is my recipe for uplifting Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, similar to the recipe done by Sally’s Baking Addiction. They may not be the healthiest cookies on the planet, but they are sure to brighten anyone’s day. And with oatmeal, raisins, and honey in them, you have no reason to feel guilty, right?!?
Adjectives I would use to describe these bits of heaven: buttery, nutty, chewy, savory, sweet, comforting, melt-in-your-mouth
I like to think these sweets treats are raisin the cookie bar 😉 Give this recipe and whirl and see for yourself why homemade is better.
