Baking Spirits Bright
In honor of December being just around the corner, I’m sharing 12 cookie recipes that are perfect for the Holidays! Bakers like Sally’s Baking Addiction, Ambitious Kitchen, A Dash of Megnut, and Cooking Classy are all featured in this roundup. To note: I wanted to include other “treats” that are holiday related, like peppermint bark and pretzel bites, however those aren’t technically cookies. This is a roundup of JUST cookies. If I feel inspired, I may share a slew of holiday treats later in the season, but I thought this was a great jumping off point.
Whether you’re cooking for friends, family, or just because, these cookie recipes would be a hit a cookie exchange. When I was in PA school every Christmas after exams were over, we would get a group of girls together and have a Christmas party with a cookie exchange. It was the perfect way to kickoff Christmas break and a fun way to try a bunch of different cookies.
I tried to incorporate a few Gluten-Free options as well for all my celiac and gluten-intolerant folk. Hope these cookie recipes help get you in the holiday spirit and simplify the season!
These cookies are dynamite! I made these last year and the fresh ginger makes all the difference. They are full of rich flavor and perfect for the holidays. The molasses and ginger create the perfect backdrop of comfort in these cookies.
Also made these last year! To note: they tend to be crumbly and fall apart fairly easily because they are flourless. May be more adult-friendly than kid-friendly. Love the taste though, and will definitely be making these again this year!
I’ve made these annually since 2016. First time I made them was for our PA school cookie exchange. I don’t think I’ve loved a Christmas cookie more than this one. Made with instant cookie, rich chocolate and peppermint, these cookies are decadent and a must-bake for the holidays.
Crinkle Cookies weren’t something my family baked year-after-year. However, these double chocolate crinkle cookies look like something that could easily become a family tradition.
Ambitious Kitchen creates some incredible cookie recipes. Have yet to try these, but they look fun to decorate with kiddos!
Have yet to try this recipe, but love the melding of snickerdoodles with graham crackers. I think I’ll be making this recipe once December rolls around!
These look truly sinful. Shortbread PLUS Pecans PLUS Toffee PLUS Chocolate. Can’t get much more tasty than that!
A Snickerdoodle + Ginger Snap got married and made this little bundle of joy!
I need to start giving Nutella the attention it deserves. Haven’t baked with it in years, and this recipe is inspiring me to rekindle my love for Nutella! Thumbprint cookies rolled in finely chopped hazelnuts with dollops of Nutella in the center. Heavenly!
A Christmas staple! Can’t have Christmas without festively decorated sugar cookies
Haven’t tried this recipe yet, but they look adorable right? Twisted dough in the shape of a candy cane, and did I mention it’s GF?!?
As someone who grew up in Pennsylvania for 3 years of my childhood, I have a special nostalgia for PB Buckeyes!
