So over the past month, I’ve been trying Home Chef, the country’s leading meal kit delivery service. Let me start off by saying how much I loathe gimicky meal delivery services. First of all, many of them fail to provide fresh ingredients. Second of all, they are often not conducive for the family or household revolving around a budget. But not Home Chef! We found the perfect mix of value and quality delivered right to our front door. Anything that saves me time, money, and a headache is a WIN-WIN-WIN!
I Was In a Cooking Rut
After getting married and starting new jobs, finding the time to meal plan and prep has proven challenging. I love cooking and experimenting new recipes. But thinking of meals and trying to fit them into your budget while still getting quality ingredients is tough. Thankfully I don’t have to do any brainstorming when it comes to Home Chef. They have an array of menu items to choose from each week that are fun, flavorful, and fresh. They even have menu items to meet certain dietary restrictions, like dairy-free and grain-free.
New Recipes, New Flavors
We signed up to receive 3 meals a week. And honestly, some of the meals we’ve made have allowed us to have leftovers, making this service even more of a deal. Each week, I’m so excited to get our Home Chef box! New recipes delivered right to my door and perfectly portioned for our family of 2. Each week is a new opportunity for me to expand my cooking repertoire and to broaden my horizons in the kitchen.
Less Waste
No more eating the same thing for 10 nights in a row (Praise the Lord!). Because each meal pack is portioned for your specific household size, you eliminate the chance of having food waste. Ergo you are living more consciously while eating bomb meals. Who doesn’t want that?!?!
Clear Instructions
And if you aren’t savvy in the kitchen, Home Chef comes with clear step-by-step instructions that will walk you through each recipe. Most of the time, I cook the meat longer than what’s suggested because I live in fear of undercooked meats. When you work in medicine and know the dangers of consuming raw meat (Salmonella, Yersinia, Campylobacter, etc.), you ere on the side of caution.
It’s In the Bag
Typically, the only ingredients you need at home are olive oil, salt, and pepper. The rest is all included in each meal pack. Meaning all the fresh herbs, spices, sauces, meats, and veggies are included. Yeah you heard me right, it’s all INCLUDED. I told you this is amazing!
Week One
Japanese Steak Bento Bowl with Rice, Broccolini, & Roasted Peanuts
Jalapeno Popper Chicken and Corn & Zucchini
Bruschetta Pork Chops with Spinach Salad

Week Two
Thai Pork Spring Roll Bowls with Satay Sauce and Crispy Rice Noodles
Peach BBQ Chicken Breast with Broccoli
Marsala Mushroom Smothered Bone-In Pork Chop (not pictured)

Week Three
Ginger-Scallion Chicken Noodle Bowl with Green Peppers and Bell Pepper
Souvlaki Greek Chicken
Turkey Tinga Tacos with Sour Cream and Crispy Jalapenos

So Many Options…
Pork, Salmon, Steak, Risotto, Tacos, Flatbreads, Salads, Mac & Cheese…each week you’re faced with the challenging task of picking ONLY three meals. The toughest decision of the week! But the best part is trying recipes you’ve never considered making making before and mastering them. After a couple of weeks of Home Chef, you’ll be well on your way to becoming Top Chef. I’ve been doing this now for over a month, and I already feel more inspired in the kitchen!
