September 2020 Recap

Is it just me or did September even happen?

I feel like I just recapped August, and now here we are recapping September. Time is flying, y’all! This month I started working full-time as a Physician Assistant (aka ER resident no more). I visited my parents in Charleston for the first time since January. And I’ve learning to prioritize rest amidst the chaos. Each month brings with it its fair share of challenges, but I’m forever thankful for the growth of this month and from 2020 as a whole. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from September!

RECIPES TRIED

Ambitious Kitchen’s Healthy Birthday Cake Bread
This month wasn’t the best for recipe testing. Due to a pretty packed work schedule, I was fairly limited in my time off and lacked a general motivation to be creative. Hoping that October is a little different. But on a lighter note, this Birthday Cake Bread was pretty dang good!

ONE FEAR I CONQUERED

Spending the night somewhere other than my own home. Since COVID, I haven’t spent the night anywhere but Myrtle Beach. Well, except for when we went to Sugar Mountain, NC for our anniversary trip. But I spent the night at my parent’s house for the first time since January, and it felt strange and wonderful all at the same time. This year has brought with it a tremendous amount of tumult and change. The fact that spending the night somewhere other than my own home is strange is strange in itself. We’re all having to be more mindful and wise in each decision we make. But finding normalcy amidst the abnormal is vital!

FITNESS UPDATE

This month I’ve been doing a lot more yoga, stretching, outdoor walks and a lot less HIIT and weightlifting. My body has been craving a slower rhythm, and I’m listening. There is nothing wrong with changing up your fitness routine according to what your body needs. As we move into a new season, it’s only natural for our bodies to do the same. I’m continuing to prioritize activity, it just looks different than it has the past couple months. And that’s OKAY!
