Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies

For centuries, apple cider vinegar has been used for medicinal and culinary purposes. But as more and more research comes out about it’s incredible health benefits, it’s gaining popularity in the health and wellness market.

Last month, I came across the brand MaryRuth’s Organics. It’s a brand that offers an array of vitamins and supplements that are organic AND gelatin-free. And when I saw that they offer Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Gummies, I knew I had to try them. In light of all the new research surrounding apple cider vinegar’s health benefits, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to test them for myself. These gummies are organic, vegan , gluten-free, dairy-free, gelatin-free, nut-free, non-GMO, celiac-friendly, and soy-free. Basically, only the good stuff.

So, let’s talk benefits…

(Possible) Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

(Let me preface this by saying that I am not an expert in supplements. I am however a Physician Assistant, and I believe in the power of natural remedies just as much as pharmaceuticals. This blogpost however is not to try and persuade you to use ACV Gummies in place of evidence-based medicine for your hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol. But it is always important to consider the power of vitamins and supplements in conjunction with medical regimens. As always, consult your doctor before taking to discuss risks and benefits!

Lower Blood Sugar Levels

Numerous small population studies have shown that ACV can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce post-prandial blood sugar. The National Centers for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) stress the importance of not replacing medical treatment with supplements. If you’re currently taking blood sugar lowering medications, consult your doctor before taking any additional supplements or changing your current treatment regimen.

Improve Cardiovascular Health

Many animal studies have shown that regular administration of ACV can lower blood pressure, triglycerides and cholesterol levels. These are risk factors for cardiovascular disease, so maintaining lower levels can help fight your risk of developing CV disease. When paired with a diverse, nutritious diet and moderate activity, ACV would be a great addition to fighting CV disease.

Maintain Healthy Weight

ACV, when taken with a meal, can increase one’s feelings of fullness causing you to eat less calories. This can aid in sustained weight loss when coupled with a healthy diet and active lifestyle.

Improve Digestive Health

ACV has anti-inflammatory properties that may aid in the digestion of food. It also has natural anti-bacterial effects which can help kill overgrowth of bad bacteria in the gut and reduce the digestive inflammatory response.

Boost Immune System

Apple cider vinegar contains a substance called “must” which contains probiotics and good bacteria. These probiotics may help boost your immunity by encouraging detoxification through lymphatic drainage and enhancing circulation. A 2018 study demonstrated that diluted ACV may prevent the growth of the bacteria E.coli, Staphylococcus aureus (staph) and Candida albicans (yeast) growing in a petri dish. Now our bodies aren’t a tiny petri dish, but that’s some pretty cool science.

I’m excited to incorporate these ACV gummies into my daily regimen. They’re tasty and packed with all the polyphenols this girl needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Don’t forget: no supplement can compensate for a bad diet or sedentary lifestyle. We all need to eat more whole foods, drink more water, and move our bodies more frequently. It’s okay to incorporate supplements and vitamins into your daily routine, but never forget the power of a healthy lifestyle. Also, always consult your doctor before starting a new supplement or vitamin!

…and guess what? MaryRuth’s entire supplement line is available on Amazon Prime!
