Toast Tuesday

 

Okay, I love a good piece of toast.

 

Call my boring, bland, or basic, but there is something so lovely about the breakfast possibilities a piece of toast holds.

 

Hear me out, first of all there are varying degrees of “TOASTED-ness”, like do you like yours slightly toasted or basically burnt? What type of bread do you like? Ezekiel Bread? Dave’s Killer Bread? White? Rye? Pumpernickel? Cinnamon Raisin?

Then, you have to consider the wide array of spreads that you can smear on your blank canvas. Peanut butter, almond butter, Sunflower butter, cashew butter, jams, jellies, cottage cheese, cream cheese, butter, honey, avocado… And then the toppings! Everything Bagel seasoning, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, fried eggs, poached eggs, hard-boiled eggs, figs, grapes, pears, feta cheese, goat cheese…

I mean the possibilities are endless! That’s probably why it is one of my favorite breakfasts besides yogurt and granola, because there are so many different ways to prepare it that it eliminates the risk of a boring breakfast. And no one wants a boring breakfast!
