This month marked the end of an era for me.
I finished my last month being full-time in the Emergency Department. It was my first job out of PA school. It taught me so much about clinical medicine and has helped me hone in on how I want to practice as a Physician Assistant. I’ve learned a lot about emergency medicine and also gained a tremendous amount of confidence. It’s been a tough year learning the ropes of being a PA during a global pandemic, but I can’t imagine this past year any other way than baptism by fire. Ready for the next adventure of being a provider for inpatient care. Look out world, Kitchy’s spreading her wings once again!

PLACES I TRAVELLED
Louisville, KY: Cary & I went on our first flight since COVID happened. The last time we had flown on a plane was in October 2019. So it’s been a hot second since we prepared for takeoff. But we went to visit his parents and sister to celebrate Thanksgiving in a socially distant manner. We had a pie to human ratio of 7:6, went on numerous walks, sat outside by the firepit, and made hot toddies. It was a fun weekend in the books! If you have any upcoming travel, I highly recommend flying Delta. Even on some of the busiest travel days of the year, they were blocking seats to ensure greater social distancing. I’m a major fan of Delta!

ONE FEAR I CONQUERED
Got my hair balayaged! I’d gotten it colored back in March, but I hadn’t gotten balayage since before we were engaged back in 2018. Once we got engaged, I was in the business of having my natural hair color for our wedding day. I wanted to look timeless. But then we moved to Myrtle Beach shortly thereafter and I was forced to find a new hair salon to go to. Turns out MB is kind of the worst for salon selections. I tried plenty of salons and hated them all. But then I found Jill, and all my hair dreams came true! Love how she cut and colored it. In the sage words of Shania Twain, “Man, I feel like a woman!”

FITNESS UPDATE
This month I’ve been focusing on maintenance and what feels good. Rather than working out because I have to, I’m choosing to workout because I want to. By listening to my body, I’m choosing exercises that I crave. Whether that’s yoga, weightlifting, walks, or runs, I am being intentional with my exercise. I’ve gone through seasons in my life where I’ve become obsessed with exercise to the point that I feel like a failure if I can’t squeeze a workout in. That’s not a healthy place to be. Give your body grace this time of year. The holidays are not the time to be hyperfocused on your weight or body image. Learn to love your body for its unique imperfections and revel in the time you have with your family rather than your waistline.
