I’m such a homebody.
I love being at home. Even when I have a day off, I rarely like to leave the house unless it’s a Target run or an outdoor walk. Basically it has to be absolutely necessary. However, I love a good spa day! So if there are ways to bring the spa experience home and for less money out of pocket, I’m down! More and more companies are selling products that create a spa-like experience at home. Before quarantine, I’d never seen many at-home dip and gel nail kits, and now they are everywhere. People love to pamper themselves, but any financial shortcut is appreciated.
So when I found this Facial Steamer by Vanity Planet, I knew I’d found a great at-home device to bring indulgence into my daily routine. In light of all the stress and anxiety we face in our day-to-day lives, it’s more important than ever to take the time to really take care of ourselves both physically and mentally. I use this steamer one-two times a week to decompress and just breath. It’s a great tool for relaxing, but it’s also packed with a ton of benefits.

1. Increases circulation
The warm steam helps increase perspiration of the skin which dilates the blood vessels and thereby increases circulation. This increase in blood flow is nourishing and helps deliver more oxygen to the tissues. It also increases the production of collagen and elastin in the skin which promotes firmer, younger-looking skin. WIN WIN WIN!
2. Boosts hydration
Facial steaming helps soften the outer layer of your skin. The steam increases natural oil production, aka natural moisturization of your skin. If you want naturally glowing skin, this is for you. And with all our recent mask-wearing, our skin needs all the help it can get.
3. Cleansing
Steam open up your pores and helps loosen any buildup, dirt, or impurities trapped in the tissues. If you’re prone to blackheads, this process will help to soften them and make them easier to remove. Oftentimes following a facial steam with a type of microdermabrasion device can be a great targeted approach to treating clogged pores. Vanity Planet has one called the Exfora that’s highly rated. PMD is also a very highly rated brand, but comes at a higher price tag.
4. Relieves sinus congestion
Yes, you read that right. If you’re prone to sinus congestion, facial steaming is a great tool to help break up congestion and relieve sinus pain/pressure. And now that pollen season is fast approaching, add this to your seasonal allergy arsenal!
5. Relaxing
We all get stressed and overwhelmed by the day-to-day. This is a simple tool to help yourself relax. It’s a form of self-care. When you think of saunas and spa days, steam is often a vital part of your treatment. Put it on your calendar and commit to a short at-home spa treatment 1-2 times/week. You deserve it!

Do you use a facial steamer?

Love that! Any tips or tricks on how you use it? I use mine after cleansing and usually cleanse again after with a scrub or exfoliating cleanser to unclog the now opened pores

I actually don’t cleanse again after using it. I cleanse, steam, then normally will put a mask of some sort on for 10 minutes and then wash it off. Then I just continue my skincare as normal!
